Dave received his undergraduate degree (with honours) in psychology and his Doctorate of Psychology (Clinical) from Deakin University. Dave has a clinical and research background in men’s mental health and the mental health of the LGBTQIA+ community, working closely with these populations since the beginning of his career. As well as private practice, Dave has worked clinically within the private hospital sector with both community and inpatient populations. Dave works across most psychological disorders (e.g., depression, anxiety, phobias, anger, OCD, trauma), and has a particularly interest in issues related to attachment, self-worth/esteem, substance-related issues (particularly methamphetamine use), and relationship problems.
Dave is passionate about both 1:1 and group therapy, and developed and facilitated Australia’s first multidisciplinary private outpatient psychology program tailored specifically for men. Dave previously held the position of lecturer at Deakin University, Australia, where he chaired the counselling and coaching units and was the principle researcher on numerous areas of clinical research in men’s mental health. Dave’s therapeutic style is collaborative, authentic, and strategy-focused. Dave is trained in couples therapy and holds a diploma of clinical hypnosis.

The cost of a 50-minute consultation with Dave is $205, which is payable at the end of the session by cash, EFTPOS, or credit card. If referred by a G.P. along with a Mental Health Care Plan, or by a psychiatrist, you will receive a rebate of $128.40 per session via Medicare. This will be processed at the end of each session. Up to 10 Medicare-rebated sessions can be claimed per calendar year. Alternatively, you may wish to claim the consultation fee under private health cover, WorkCover, or TAC, if these options are available to you.
